Why Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists are trained to diagnose and treat all types of musculoskeletal conditions. This includes traumatic or chronic injuries, to people suffering from alignment, postural or mobility issues, muscle imbalances, arthritis, and those waiting for or recovering from surgery. 

Since we specialize in the body's movement system, physicians often send patients to us for confirmation of diagnosis of any conditions to do with muscles and joints of the musculoskeletal system along with a request for treatment. 

 

Physiotherapy at Riverlakes employs the following treatment techniques to achieve results with our patients:

At your first visit you can expect:

Appointment takes 45min to 1 hour. Includes a review of medical history, discussion of presenting problem & daily activities, mechanism of injury, symptom review, physical examination with specific musculoskeletal and sensory tests, concludes with a diagnosis and if time permits, a treatment. The Physiotherapist will also discuss your goals and the diagnosis, point out contributing factors, discuss rehabilitation goals and outline a treatment plan. 

We ask you to please dress comfortably. Ladies please bring a tank top (spaghetti straps best) and a pair of shorts with expandable waist (drawstring, elastic or similar) and men have a pair of shorts as above. The same goes for children. Please wear comfortable shoes. Bring your physician referral and relevant medical tests (x-rays, post surgical report etc) if you have them. Please note, a physician referral is not necessary to attend but bring it if you have one as your physician is an important stakeholder in the process. If you have insurance and your plan allows direct billing bring along a copy of your insurance card. Please come 15 minutes prior to your 1st visit to fill out medical questionnaires and insurance information.
